Willow Glen Bible Church Worship Leader (Part-Time)

OVERVIEW

The Part-time Worship Leader at Willow Glen Bible Church oversees the planning and execution of Sunday morning church services. This position (15-20 hours / week) includes planning the volunteer schedules, training, and general care for the music teams, tech teams, and hosts. The Worship Leader will also oversee the sound, lighting, slides, and livestream with assistance from their administrative assistant. They will select songs that are suited for a modern worship service, complementary to the sermon, and conducive to a good flow that invites people to encounter God in all aspects of the service. The Worship Leader will run a weekly worship team practice with the goal of “distraction-free excellence” while still full of grace for learning and growing together.



RESPONSIBILITIES

• Build up the congregation by leading them in adoration and praise to God through song
  
  
• Plan and execute Sunday morning worship services in collaboration with the teaching pastor by selecting songs that support the sermon and create a good flow throughout the service
  
  
• Recruit, train, and care for music teams, tech teams, and hosts
  
  
• Build relationships with and schedule volunteers for Sunday morning services
  
  
• Oversee sound, lighting, slides, and livestream with assistance from the administrative assistant
  
  
• Participate in weekly worship service planning meetings with pastors and admins
   
• Lead weekly worship team practices with a focus on distraction-free excellence
  
  
• Foster a culture of growth, learning, and grace among the worship team
  
  
• Develop and disciple musicians and vocalists
  
  
• Receive and provide constructive criticism in love
  
  
• Demonstrate strong Character and Christian integrity

QUALIFICATIONS

• A committed follower of Jesus Christ with a heart for worship and leading others in worship
  
  
• Adhere to and apply a personal philosophy of worship to the role and church environment
  
  
• Ability to play an instrument and lead vocally
  
  
• Experience leading worship in a church setting
  
  
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  
  
• Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
  
  
• Ability to work collaboratively with other staff members and volunteers
  
  
• Willingness to submit to the leadership of the church and adhere to its statement of faith

Who We Are

Willow Glen Bible Church is a non-denominational church in the heart of San Jose, CA. We have a rich history in the Bay Area from the merger of Peninsula Bible Church of Willow Glen and Dwell Christian Church. PBC Willow Glen is a part of a family of independents churches birthed from the ministry of Ray Stedman. Dwell Christian Church was a 120 year old Baptist congregation once called the Baptist General Conference and now known as Converge.

Our philosophy of ministry is based on four core values of servant leadership, expository preaching, equipping the saints, and the new covenant of the gospel. These are at the core of what we do to disciple people in loving God, loving others, and living freely.

Our church is located just ten minutes from downtown San Jose right in the middle of one of the city's most desirable neighborhoods. It is very walkable and centrally located to everything the South Bay has to offer. The beaches of Santa Cruz are only 45 minutes away. Our area is also one of the most culturally diverse cities in the US with roughly one-third of population being Caucasian, Asian, or Hispanic.
